What’s so funny about peace, love, and understanding? –Elvis Costello
Cars and bikes need to coexist on our roads!
We have to get beyond the animosity and aggression on our streets. Bikers need to follow the rules and cars need to respect biker’s right to ride. We all benefit when more people ride. There are fewer cars on the roads, more parking places, and lower environmental impacts when more people ride. We’re not enemies! (Maybe frenemies?)
Here’s a few requests for car drivers:
-
Always give a bike at least 1 meter (3 feet) of distance when passing.
-
If you are passing in-lane, slow down when overtaking a bike.
-
When parking on the road, always look behind you before opening your door.
-
Please don’t stop or drive in bike lanes and always look before crossing one.
Come on people! Let’s do this! Don’t be haters. We all have legal rights on our roads, so we need to find the best way to get along and share the roads. Please try not to kill bikers. And we bikers need to find ways to accommodate those who have not yet been enlightened to the ways of biking.
I made a few of these bumper stickers. So if you have a bumper to put them on, or if you know someone who does, then send your snail-mail address to info@OffTheWagon.life, subscribe to this blog, and I’ll mail you one of these.
